Following the closure of Weymouth’s Cineworld, AXI Studio proposed a bold reimagining of the site into a vibrant, multi-activity leisure destination.
North Made Studio was appointed to produce high-impact architectural CGI showcasing both the exterior transformation and immersive interior concept. Through detailed 3D architectural rendering, we helped communicate AXI’s vision — turning a redundant cinema into a dynamic entertainment hub designed to revitalise Weymouth’s town centre economy.
THE DEVELOPMENT
The Weymouth Cineworld closure left a significant void within the town’s leisure and evening economy, prompting renewed discussion around the site’s future. AXI Studio’s proposal reimagines the former cinema as a contemporary, high-energy leisure destination designed to attract families, young adults and visitors year-round.
The concept transforms the existing structure into a multi-functional entertainment venue featuring immersive mini-golf, bowling, social gaming areas, food and drink concessions and vibrant communal spaces. A central atrium forms the heart of the scheme — complete with mezzanine levels, feature staircases and layered lighting installations — creating visual drama and spatial connectivity.
Externally, the rebranded façade introduces bold signage and illuminated glazing to reposition the building as a landmark destination. The scheme balances adaptive reuse with contemporary design, ensuring the development feels both economically viable and culturally relevant.
By repositioning a vacant cinema into a dynamic leisure anchor, the project aims to contribute to Weymouth’s regeneration strategy and reinvigorate footfall within the town centre.
OUR VISUALISATION APPROACH
Our architectural visualisation approach focused on capturing the energy, atmosphere and commercial viability of the proposed leisure transformation. As a specialist architectural visualisation studio, we created a series of photoreal architectural CGI and 3D architectural rendering assets designed to support stakeholder confidence and public engagement.
Internally, the architectural CGI centred around spatial drama and experiential storytelling. The atrium visuals highlight the sculptural staircase, mezzanine walkways and layered ceiling lighting. Neon graphics, playful wayfinding and colour-rich finishes were rendered with precise material realism to reinforce the venue’s entertainment-led identity.
In the leisure unit visuals, we focused on scale, density and activation — demonstrating how bowling lanes, mini-golf zones and food areas integrate within a cohesive environment. Dynamic lighting gradients and subtle volumetric effects were applied to enhance depth and atmosphere without compromising architectural clarity.
For the exterior CGI, we emphasised twilight lighting conditions to enhance the vibrancy of the new branding and illuminated entrance sequence. Reflections, glazing transparency and contextual street activity were carefully balanced to present the scheme as an active, welcoming evening destination.
Through advanced 3D architectural visualisation techniques, we translated AXI’s design narrative into compelling imagery that supports regeneration dialogue, investor presentations and planning discussions. By combining architectural CGI and experiential storytelling, the visuals communicate not just what the building looks like — but how it feels.
