North Made Studio worked with HBD to create an architectural animation for SPARK, a major industrial and logistics development in Walsall.
The animation was designed to communicate the scale, specification and connectivity of the scheme, combining architectural visualisation with dynamic movement, aerial perspectives and key development information to help prospective occupiers understand the opportunity and visualise SPARK as a completed logistics and manufacturing destination.
The Development
SPARK is a major industrial and logistics development in Walsall, transforming a former brownfield site into a new destination for manufacturing and logistics businesses.
Located close to Junctions 9 and 10 of the M6, the 44-acre development will provide 620,000 sq ft of high-specification industrial and logistics space, with units designed to accommodate a range of occupier requirements. Phase One includes two buildings of approximately 18,000 and 250,000 sq ft, while Phase Two will deliver a further three units totalling 101,342 sq ft. Further build-to-suit opportunities are also available across the wider development.
Sustainability has been embedded within the scheme, with buildings targeting BREEAM Excellent, EPC A and Net Zero Carbon capability. Alongside its strategic motorway connectivity, SPARK benefits from a 12MVA allocated power supply and access to the West Midlands’ established manufacturing and logistics workforce.
The development forms part of the regeneration of the former James Bridge Copper Works site, bringing previously undeveloped brownfield land back into productive use and creating new employment opportunities for the area.
Our Visualisation Approach
For a development on the scale of SPARK, the animation needed to do more than simply showcase the proposed architecture. Our approach focused on helping prospective occupiers understand the development as a complete destination: its scale, individual units, landscaping, accessibility and wider strategic location.
Using architectural 3D visualisation, we created a dynamic journey through the scheme, moving between wider aerial perspectives and closer views at ground level. These transitions allow the viewer to understand how the buildings relate to one another while also providing a clearer impression of the arrival experience, surrounding landscaping and operational environment.
The architectural animation also integrates key information about the development directly into the visual journey. Details around unit availability, floor space and delivery are introduced alongside the imagery, allowing the animation to function as a practical property marketing tool as well as an engaging piece of visual content.
Careful attention was given to movement, camera positioning, landscaping, vehicles and environmental details to create a credible sense of activity without distracting from the development itself. The result is a clear and engaging representation of SPARK that helps turn plans and specifications into something prospective occupiers can immediately understand.
By combining animation with high-quality architectural visualisation, the final piece provides HBD with a flexible marketing asset that can support digital campaigns, presentations, social media and occupier conversations throughout the development and leasing process.
